Gene Roddenberry

Eugene Wesley (called Gene) Roddenberry counts as the creator of Star Trek. Eugene Wesley (genannt Gene) Roddenberry gilt weithin als der Erschaffer von Star Trek.


Gene Roddenberry was born in El Paso, Texas on 19th of august in 1921. First he accomplished an apprenticeship as a police man, than he became a fighter pilot. After the second world war he became a pilot at PanAm. In 1949 he applied at the police of Los Angeles and supervised investigations. He trained himself the writing of screenplays, which became his main profession in 1953. After a few detective stories, he wrote the script for the first Star Trek series through which he became world-famous. 70 years old, he died on 24th of october in 1991 in Santa Monica, California.

Thus he died shortly before the premiere of the sixth motion picture and in the middle of the fifth season of TNG. But because of health issues, he already retreated from the production more and more during the second season of TNG.

  • Gene Roddenberry was married twice.
  • "Kim Noonien Singh" was apparently a later missed friend from World War 2 and also the name of a character in Star Trek.
  • In the Paramount studios a building is named after Gene Roddenberry.
