In the Year 2889

In the Year 2889 is a short story by Jules Verne which was originally published as La Journée d'un journaliste américain en 2889 (The Day of an American Journalist in 2889) in the American magazine "The Forum". Though the story is officially recognized as a work by Jules Verne, it is widely believed that the story was in fact authored by his son, Michel. The story depicts life a thousand years in the future and makes a series of predictions of what progresses will have been made through the perspective of its main protagonist, Francis Benett, editor of the Earth Herald.

In 2019, Jack Bradley translated this short story for the fifth edition of 'eSrIv.
