Purpose clause

A purpose clause is a phrase whose action is the purposeful result of some other action. The verb in the purpose clause has the Type 9 suffix -meH which will show up in English as for, for the purpose of, in order to, etc. Unlike SubordinateClause, a purpose clause must come before the main clause.

Hamlet vIleghlaHmeH tlhIngan Hol vIghojlI' (I am learning Klingon in order to be able to read Hamlet)
literally : In order that I am able to read Hamlet I am learning Klingon.

It is easy to mistake a purpose clause for some other type of sentence, so care must be taken to discern the cause & effect relation between the main sentence and the purpose clause.
