Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Star Trek: The Motion Picture is the first Star Trek movie. It was made in 1979 and contained the first few words of Klingon, which were created by James Doohan and associate producer Jon Povill and spoken by Mark Lenard. These words created the base for Marc Okrand's Klingon language.

A damaged Earth probe, Voyager, encounters an alien intelligence that repairs and greatly expands Voyager's size and power. But Voyager's original mission becomes corrupted and now it is returning to rid Earth of its "carbon units" (i.e. life), destroying everything in its path. The only starship in range is the USS Enterprise -- still in drydock after a major overhaul. Captain Willard Decker readies his ship and crew to face V'ger (as it now calls itself), but Admiral James T. Kirk arrives with orders to take command of the Enterprise and intercept the intruder. After determining its motives, Decker and Lt. Ilia merge with V'ger and create a new lifeform.

In the opening scene, V'ger destroys 3 Klingon battle cruisers. Although several Klingon crewmen are in the scene, only the unnamed Captain speaks, played by Mark Lenard.

Later a Federation outpost intercepts a transmission from the Klingons, but the audio quality is too poor to understand what is said.
