'utlh

The title 'utlh is used in Klingon society for those few military officers who live long enough to avoid being killed by a subordinate, and are therefore able to step down or retire voluntarily from active military service. A good rendition might be "officer emeritus" or "retired officer".(1)

In the Klingon language community on Earth, the title is most often used in practice as an honorary title for those who have served the KLI in the role of Beginners' Grammarian.
