A verb is a word that describes an action of doing something, but also a state: in Klingon, adjectives are also considered verbs(1). Most verbs in Klingon consist of only one syllable. To change the meaning or the use of a verb, it can takes several [VerbSuffixes][suffixes]]. Unlike nouns, verbs can also take prefixes.

So the basic structure of a verb is prefix-[verb]-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9.

In a Klingon sentence, the verb comes before the subject, which is the reverse order from what we are used to in English.

Sop tlhIngan
The Klingon eats.
